Buy Canopy 5200APG for cameras: continuous streaming, live viewing or archive transfer

Permanent recording in the centre
- Remote playground camera
- Subscriber radio module → AP
- Central registrar
The stream goes through the radio constantly.
Recording on set
- Camera → Local Registrar
- Radio network
- Operator: viewing or archive on request
Downloading the archive adds load to the current viewing.
These are options for organizing a video system. Their compatibility and performance are confirmed for a specific configuration; the scheme does not mean a ready-made delivery kit.
A “radio camera” request can describe different purchases. One company constantly records all remote cameras on a central recorder. Another stores the video on the site and opens the desired picture on request. The third one needs to collect a large archive regularly. When considering the Canopy 5200APG, these tasks should be divided: the number of cameras without a mode of operation does not describe the load of the radio network.
Where is the record?
If the registrar is located in the center, video data from a remote site must pass over the radio line in the prescribed recording mode. An individual operator may open another stream or request an archive at this time. Therefore, the task indicates not only the addresses of the cameras, but also the places of recording and viewing.
With a local registrar, the architecture is different. If its capabilities allow the chosen scheme, the recording is performed on the site, and the requested data is transmitted through the radio. This can reduce the constant load, but does not cancel the transmission during viewing and unloading. You can’t promise no video traffic just because the recorder is standing next to the camera.
The total bandwidth does not become personal for each camera.
Motorola’s Canopy family guide explicitly views AP bandwidth as a shared subscriber resource. Therefore, the number of connections supported does not mean the same number of independent channels at full speed. The video system must be within the capabilities of a particular network, not only to connect to a central point.
To illustrate, four simultaneously transmitted streams of 1 Mbps yield 4 Mbps of useful video data. This is an arithmetic example, not a conclusion about the suitability of 5200APG for such a load. Network overheads and other transfers are added to the flows. Required direction and usable band confirm for real equipment and configuration.
| Work assignment | What's on the radio? | What to ask before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Permanent central record | Remote camera streams envisaged | Total simultaneous load and recording requirements |
| Selective viewing | User-open streams | Number of simultaneous views and selected quality |
| Downloading of archives | Transfer of stored data | Volume, allowable time and collaboration with the current video |
| Cameras together with office services | Several types of traffic | Work priorities and overall workload |
Archives - an independent script
The network can normally show a single camera and then have trouble uploading the recording. The reason is not necessarily a faulty radio point: the nature of the work has changed. It is useful for the buyer to decide in advance whether a long-term transfer of the archive is permissible, what operations are going on at the same time and what result is considered acceptable.
The task of “downloading yesterday’s record” is significantly different from “watching now.” In the first case, the deadline for the completion of the transfer may be more important, in the second - the timeliness and stability of the image. These requirements do not replace each other. They are included in the task separately, so that the quotation on the radio network corresponds to the desired work of video surveillance.
Speed from documentation and actual result
Canopy archive materials differ in system speed and useful data transfer. Therefore, the number from the general brochure should not be taken as a measured bandwidth of each direction and each connected device. For the proposed 5200APG confirm configuration, software version and compatible subscriber nodes.
A useful check must reproduce the agreed load: current browsing, desired recording and intended unloading if they work together. The appearance of one picture proves only this individual case. The VLAN partition does not create an additional physical band; it solves another problem of network organization.

In OmegaCanopy’s own card, the 5200APG point is listed for 84 000 RUB. This is the price of the position, not the entire network of cameras, subscriber modules, recorders and installation. Condition, configuration, accessories and preparation are fixed in the current quotation.
To request, attach a simple scheme: cameras, recording places, viewing workstations and radio lines. Specify existing device models, thread settings and archive requirements. Add the receiving city – Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Almaty, Pavlodar or another region of Russia and Kazakhstan. The 5200APG can be discussed as part of a specific data and video solution, with no promises of performance on a single model name.
Questions before buying
Does the number of connected subscribers determine the number of cameras?
Nope. The radio network is evaluated by the simultaneous traffic and the required payband. One subscriber can transmit several streams, and the presence of a connection does not confirm the desired quality.
Local recording completely eliminates video traffic through radio?
Nope. Selected viewing and uploading the archive still transmit data. It is necessary to describe when and how many such operations occur simultaneously.
Can you calculate the network by one average bitrate?
The average is useful as a starting point, but you need to take into account the specified restrictions, peaks, shared viewing, archive and other traffic. Check the agreed working scenario.
