How to choose the channel type before the purchase: serial data of the controller, Ethernet-network enterprise and the border of additional converters.

Under the common task of "transmitting data between objects" can hide different interfaces. One project transfers the serial exchange of the controller, the other connects the Ethernet segments with computers or IP equipment. It is too early to choose a radio only at distance or price in such a situation: first you need to name the data and method of connection at both ends.

What's on the boundary of the canal

The manufacturer describes the Integra-TR family as a radio modem for telemetry and serial exchange tasks. For configuration 242-4018-630 from our list, the price of the device is 270,000 RUB; specific parameters and accessories are agreed separately. Having a COM port does not mean that the device is a ready-made Ethernet bridge for any network applications.

Canopy in this line is used for another boundary – Ethernet connection. The access point and subscriber modules have their own roles in the radio network. This does not make them a direct replacement for serial radio modems: if project interfaces are different, the need for additional devices and their functions should be explicitly defined.

Start by describing the application

To exchange with the controller, specify the model, interface and required interaction with the central equipment. For an Ethernet project, describe the applications, the number of connected devices and the nature of the traffic. The transmission of small messages and the constant flow of IP cameras create different requirements; the same word “communication” does not equalize them.

From this information, the subject of selection is formed. One cannot promise the operation of any protocol through any radio channel, or assume that the presence of radio communication automatically ensures the availability of the application system. Channel validation and application verification must have separate, understandable terms.

If there is a need for transition between interfaces

An additional converter cannot be added to the project as an indefinite box. You need to understand its purpose, the exchange supported and the place in the scheme. Mechanical port connection does not confirm correct data transfer, and cable itself does not replace the device if an interface or protocol conversion is required.

It is useful to create a short chain: the data source, interface, radio and receiver. Separately mark power supply and existing accessories. Such a scheme helps to keep the parts of the project working and see where the new item is really needed, instead of replacing all the equipment with one common name.

Compare the cost of the completed site

The price of the Integra-TR in the card refers to one device. Canopy’s access point and subscriber module are separate positions; one does not turn into a full channel. Therefore, comparing “one box against one box” does not give the final price of the project. The composition of both ends, power supply, cables and work should be listed.

In the application, specify the equipment models, the application task, the location of the facilities, the stored parts and the city of receipt. For the existing radio network, add markings of existing modules. We will divide the quotation into hardware and matching additional items, without the promise that a single frequency or similar connector already confirms the readiness of the entire project.
